November 29, 2015 : Hot Trending In United States

Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds was the recipient of the 2015 Soul Train Legend Award during Sunday night’s (Nov. 29) awards show. If ever you needed a reminder that the music of your childhood is now being referred to as a “classic,” let the above video be your guide.
Babyface was the man behind countless R&B jams and is one of the masterminds behind the “New Jack Swing” sound of the late ’80s and ’90s. His record label LaFace Records — which he formed with Antonio “L.A.” Reed — hit it hot out of the gate with artists such as TLC, Usher, and Toni Braxton.

To fully understand the reach and influence the man has had on popular music, all one really has to do is watch the 16-minute medley of hits above.
A bunch of artists appear on stage to pay tribute to the man, including the likes of Brandy, Bobby Brown, and Boyz II Men. Former American Idol, Fantasia Barrino also appears to help maintain the legacy of Whitney Huston and Karyn White with covers of “Exhale (Shoop Shoop)” and “Superwoman.”
Not being one to accept the sidelines, even during his own tribute, Babyface even joins in on the fun in singing “Tender Roni” along with Brown. Look, the ’90s may be over but it’s never too late to celebrate the man’s musical legacy. Might as well start now!
