When Niall Horan dropped Selena Gomez the old chestnut he’s “too busy” for a relationship, it must have hit like a sucker punch. Or did it?
Granted, it’s been a frantic period for the boys but One Direction ’s hiatus starts after this weekend’s performance on The X Factor final.
Harry Styles, 21, is expected to make a solo album, Louis Tomlinson,
23, is favourite to replace Nick “Grimmy” Grimshaw on the XF judging
panel, and Liam Payne, 22, has talked about songwriting and producing
for other acts – but Niall ’s next move is as clear as mud.

But, to the direct question of whether they were dating, she was certain: “Oh my god no!”

A pal of the Come & Get It singer in LA told me: “Selena has had a soft spot for Niall since they were teenagers.
“There was a mutual attraction but she was dating Justin Bieber for a long time so Niall was respectful.
"Since Selena and Justin split, things have heated up with Niall.
“They have kissed and been on dates, however it won’t be going any
further as Niall has said he wants to disappear from the spotlight for a
while and go on long holidays with friends.
"They are in a
weird position. Selena has to promote her album and tour. She couldn’t
throw her things in a suitcase and join him even if she was invited.”
Over
the past fortnight, they have been snapped on several trysts in
Hollywood and attended a high-profile party for Jenna Dewan Tatum’s
35th birthday, where they gave in to a passionate smooch.

They were also seen taking a romantic stroll down Santa Monica Pier. Niall
has previously proclaimed that Selena, 23, is his dream woman and was
thrilled when they became friends after 1D got big in America.
Sadly, for now it seems what makes you beautiful isn’t enough to make the lad with itchy feet settle down any time soon.
